I Never Thought I’d Leave the City—Until I Did.

I was the definition of a city girl.

High-rise offices.

Long commutes.

A fast-paced job that felt like it was running me instead of the other way around.

For 20 years, I thrived in the corporate world—deadlines, meetings, and the steady climb up the career ladder. Then life threw me a curveball—I got married, moved to a small town, and became a farm wife.

Suddenly, my world wasn’t buzzing with emails and boardrooms. It was quiet. Slower. And honestly? I felt stuck. What the hell was I going to do in a place with no offices, no corporate jobs, and no clear career path?

For a while, I wrestled with the uncertainty. But then, I realised something…

I had no idea what came next.

When the Life You Knew Disappears, You Have Two Choices:

When I said 'I do,' I didn’t realise I was also saying 'I moo'... because a few weeks later, I found myself living in a rural town surrounded by cows, chickens, and a whole lot of farmland. No one put that in the fine print! 😂

Cling to the past and feel stuck, or reinvent yourself and build something new.

I chose reinvention.

Life in a rural town is peaceful—something I didn’t fully appreciate at first. There’s a simplicity here that you don’t find in the city. You can grow your own food, live sustainably, and be surrounded by nature. But when it comes to earning a living, most people see only two options: follow in their parents’ footsteps in farming or leave for the city in search of a job.

For years, I watched people in my community enter the rat race—moving away, working long hours, and still feeling stuck. The truth is, opportunity doesn’t have to mean leaving home.

There’s a whole world of remote work, freelancing, and online business that allows you to thrive without uprooting your life.

I want more people to see what’s possible—to know that they can earn a decent living right here, without leaving their families behind.
